Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I don’t have to tell you how important this election is. As a voter and a concerned citizen, you’ve always taken your responsibility seriously to go to the polls and vote. Because this is not a Presidential election year, voter turnout is critical and your vote on Nov. 4th is extremely important this year.
Union members and our families will make the difference on Election Day. With union members like us turning out to vote, compared to the rest of the country, we are the ones who will have the biggest impact on the future of our country. It’s our responsibility to choose the candidates who will best look out for working people.
I’m urging you to take three simple steps before voting this election:
- Make a plan to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Will you be voting before work? On your lunch break? Or maybe after you pick up the kids from school? Make a commitment to vote and don’t forget. It’s important.
- Do your research about the candidates and issues on the ballot. Although our Local does not make recommendations, we suggest candidates who are on our side and will fight for the middle class.
- If you have questions about the voting process--from finding your polling place to reporting problems with the election system—call 1-866-OUR-VOTE.
Your vote on November 4th really matters. There are some in Washington already talking about a “grand bargain” deal after the election that could cut Medicare and Social Security benefits or raise the retirement age. Some are willing to hold middle class tax cuts hostage until taxes for the richest 2% are extended. We must send a strong message on Election Day that we’re choosing a different path—one that puts middle-class families first.
Together, we can make a difference in this important election.
Join us in voting on Tuesday, November 4th.
In Solidarity,
Wini Peterson, President
Local B4
