IATSE Local B4 - General Membership Meeting - Monday, April 27, 2015
Posted On: Apr 23, 2015

The next General Membership Meeting will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 6:00 PM at the Transportation Building, Conference Room #5, Stuart & Tremont Streets, Boston, MA.  (You might need to show a photo I.D. to get in.)

I would strongly recommend joining us at this meeting.  Part of belonging to a Union is getting involved. Having 17% of the members in attendance at any one time, only leads to unanswered question and rumors.  My goal is to make this a Union strong.  We may be a small union, but we need to be an organized one.  All of our members pulling together will make this a great and strong union.  Benefits of attending a Union Meeting are:

  • Builds Solidarity among members.
  • Face-to-face meetings contribute much in strengthening the bond among union members.
  • Some individuals have brilliant ideas, attending a meeting is the best place for those ideas to be heard.
  • When we are working at the theaters, we can get so busy, we don’t have a chance to “catch up”, attending meeting is a great place for team building and/or socializing.
  • Our By-Laws state in Article 11, Section 2…”educating its membership”.  Since 2009, this local has endeavored to educate our membership in Unionism.  These lessons are on our website for your review.  There is always something to learn and you can get this information at our Union meetings.  If you are not on the IATSE Local B4 website members can join at: www.iatselocalb4.org.

As always, I am going to try to run the meeting as formally as I can, that way we can get the business of the organization completed as quickly as possible and thus giving time for questions and comments.  To respect everyone’s valuable time, we will keep a speaking order, so we don't have chaos by having people shouting comments.  Everyone will be recognized, but in an orderly fashion.  I think we will find this a more enjoyable way to hold a meeting.  Since the most important part of the organizing is the cooperation and support of the members, I really need all to be in attendance.

In Solidarity,

Wini Peterson, President
